The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE)
CAE is an umbrella program that promotes the values of a liberal arts education and helps students find new ways to make a difference locally and globally. CAE includes the Academic Advancement Program, Pathways Student Academic Services, Summer Collegiate Experience, L&S Pre-Law and Pre-Medicine advising.
CAE promotes:
- Academic Advancement Program (AAP) is a four year program that focuses on academic advising, academic instructional support, academic engagement and enrichment, and community building. The program accepts referrals of targeted and underrepresented students from the Office of Admissions. AAP is committed to helping UW-Madison create an inclusive campus climate where all members of the campus community feel valued, respected, and free to participate and achieve their highest academic and professional potential. - Pathways Student Academic Services (PSAS) provides a comprehensive two-year program with individualized attention, guidance and direction in the areas of: program orientation, academic and career advising, and community and leadership development. - Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE) is a seven-week, high-impact experience designed to expose incoming first-year students to the rigor of UW-Madison prior to fall. Participants register for summer courses and will receive graded degree credits; the curriculum is designed to advance a student’s critical thinking, writing, mathematical skills as well as increase cultural awareness.
