Why Study the Liberal Arts & Sciences?
The liberal arts and sciences is a cornerstone of the American higher education system.
A liberal arts degree focuses on interdisciplinary learning that connects math to literature and language to science. A liberal arts education provides breadth and scope. It gives students the tools to make a good living and live a good life.
A liberal arts degree is increasingly met with derision and even skepticism. Who hasn't heard this before: "How will that degree help you get a job?"
More than half of all living UW-Madison alumni are graduates of the College of Letters & Science. We know that our alumni go on to do amazing and transformative things. But we don't want to tell you why your degree is important.
That's why in the coming months we will be launching a new initiative. We will be focusing on the value and impact of the liberal arts at UW-Madison. We are going to ask you for your stories and experiences. It's your turn to tell us.
In the meantime, we appreciate your feedback on your degree. Email us at alumni@ls.wisc.edu and stay connected with us on Facebook and Twitter.
