Jarett Chaplin

JARRETT CHAPLIN
My name is Jarrett Chapin, and I am currently seeking my M.A. in the Department of English. I hope to examine the frontier thesis of Frederick Jackson and the fiction of authors of the old west (e.g., Charles Brockden Brown, James Fenimore Cooper). I am also interested in the German adventure novelist Karl May, as well as 19th and early 20th century novels. My research goal in all of these is to examine and account for the absence of the Native American figure in the latter formations of the politics of literary resistance.

My name is Jaime Bauer, and I am currently seeking my M.A. in the department of Communicative Disorders. My research will focus on the impact of traumatic brain injury on social communication skills in developing children.

I want to explore past and present Arab-American identity. I am also interested in the inclusion of Arab-Americans in the discipline of race and ethnic studies.

Jerrett Jones

My name is Jerrett Jones, and I am currently seeking my M.A. in the department of Sociology and the Lafollette School of Public Affairs. My research will focus on the role spatial relationships play in the social outcomes of individuals and households. Specifically, I am interested in examining the role of space in the resettlement of ex-offenders who are leaving prisons and returning to urban communities.

Lindsey Twin

My name is Lindsey Twin, and I am currently seeking my M.A. in the department of sociology. My research will focus on how world capitalist cycles reverberate across states and national economies. I will also be exploring how nationally-based identities and cultural practices shape how people are placed in jobs by the economy and how they are granted citizenship rights by the state.

Jamie Fisher

JAMIE FISHER
My name is Jamie Fisher and currently seeking an M.A. in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. I've always been very aware of how important communication is, especially within technical subjects like science and the environment. I'll be studying journalism and strategic communication and also be working toward a graduate certificate in environmental studies. As a professional, I will hopefully be able to combine the two and communicate the importance of our environment to the public. As for hobbies, I spend a lot of time outdoors: I enjoy just being outside and doing things like hiking, fishing, canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Fatima Salem

FATIMA SALEM
My name is Fatima Salem and I am currently seeking an MA in the Department of Communication Disorders. I am interested in exploring language delays in children, especially in the bilingual population. I am also interested in how these language delays affect literacy in these children, and what treatment options have proven to be most effective to treat these delays. I also love knitting and cross stitching. I just finished knitting myself a scarf, just in time for the cold weather!
