Spring 2008 Events

February 21st - Action Dialogues


Identifying, Naming, and Overcoming Adversity: Students of Color in Graduate School
In this discussion we will explore some common experiences that challenge the persistence and success of graduate students of color in their roles as learners and as teachers.  Issues of diversity in an open discussion so students can help each other, bringing their individual experiences to the discussion.

March 4th - CV and Resume Writing:

We will discuss the nuts-and-bolts of putting together an effective CV or Resume, from creating effective scripts to following effective formats. 


April 22nd - Talk and Dine:


Every semester we co-sponsor a professional development event with GRS (Engineering). Each organization calls for proposals and chooses presenters to give 20-30 min presentations on their graduate research.


May 1st - Salsa Dine:


Instructor Edgar Molina, Artistic Director of the Dando Mambo Dancing Company will teach basic mambo and salsa steps.  Students will have the opportunity to spend some relaxing and joyful time together.
