Mentoring Program for Classified Staff

The College of Letters & Science is providing a mentoring opportunity for new and continuing employees. The goal of the program is to foster a positive relationship between experienced employees and those employees with less experience. All classified staff within the College of Letters & Science can be a mentor or a mentee.

This program is informal and has no set organizational guidelines. It is left up to the mentor and mentee to arrange contact in whatever manner works best for them. This could be by meeting regularly for coffee, attending group events together, having semi-regular conversations either by phone or email, connecting when one or the other has a question or problem, etc.

The goal of the program is to build relationships and networks among employees in the College by sharing experiences, expertise and wisdom. By doing so, it will help the mentor and mentee to develop and grow both personally and professionally.

All employees wishing to connect with a mentor will have the opportunity to choose their mentors according to their needs using the list of mentors found on this website. If the employee prefers, they can contact their supervisor or Diana Allaby, Human Resource Manager, for assistance with locating a mentor.

Information will be given to new employees and their supervisor about this program encouraging them to make a contact. Success of this program is dependent upon a willing group of mentors and the approval and support of the supervisors.
