Follow Up Report on the General Education Requirements

RE: Second part of 2002-03 General Education report to the University Academic Planning Council: Report of the General Education Subcommittee on Communication B Assessment
As you'll recall, the annual report on General Education to the University Academic Planning Council was submitted for the December 19, 2002 meeting. WHile the General Education Committee's report on the Comm-B assessment study was part of that annual report, its formal presentation was postponed due to time constraints associated with discussion of the revisions to the Ethnic Studies Requirement.
We now ask that the Council consider and accept the report. In particular, the UAPC is asked to vote on Item 3, revising the criteria for Communication B courses. We are anxious that the Council takes action at the June 26th meeting so that the new criteria can be made effective with the beginning of the 2003-04 academic year. Action at the June 26th meeting will enable the new criteria to be publicized with the normal announcement and criteria information sent to Comm B instructors in advance of each semester.
