V.12 SPECIAL COURSE AND NON-STANDARD FEES

Special Course Fees

Campus policy prohibits the charging of special course fees for activities related to the successful completion of a course with the exception of books, pamphlets, and printed materials (see above). The policy does make provision for obtaining approval at the Dean's level for exceptions in unusual situations such as transportation costs for extended field trips; students must be advised of such costs in advance of registration. This notification requirement can be met by inclusion of an information footnote in the Timetable; contact the Timetable and Classroom Scheduling section of the Registrar's office.

All requests for special course fees should be processed through the Dean’s Designee, Associate Dean Nancy Westphal-Johnson (westphal@ls.admin.wisc.edu, Rm 306 South Hall). Further information related to special course fees can be obtained within the G29 guidelines. When requesting a special course fee, please contact Associate Dean Westphal-Johnson with your request and he will assist you with the necessary information required and the procedures to apply for a special course fee.

Non-Standard Fee Program/Course Requests

The procedure for setting up Non-Standard Fee Program/Courses has been revised. Each school/college has been assigned a School/College Designee – The College of Letters and Science Designee is Associate Dean Nancy Westphal-Johnson (westphal@ls.admin.wisc.edu, Rm 306 South Hall) who serves as your contact for requesting and applying for approval for a Non-Standard Fee Program/Course. The Registrar’s Office Tuition Assessment Section will no longer be accepting Non-Standard Fee requests. Please submit all requests for Non-Standard Fee Programs/Courses to 306 South Hall.
