VI.24 SUMMER COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE

Website: http://www.lssaa.wisc.edu/sce/

The Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE) is a campus-wide program designed for admitted first-year students. Participants in SCE are involved in a unique 7-8 week orientation program the summer before beginning their first year at the University. The Summer Collegiate Experience has three main goals:

  • To help students make the transition from high school to college level instruction and study.
  • To introduce students to academic support staff and facilities on campus that can help them to achieve personal and professional goals.
  • To assist students in adjusting to university life and to the social and cultural environment and community.

The objective of SCE is to provide a quality academic experience that introduces students to the type of instructional demands they will encounter during the fall semester. Although SCE is designed as an orientation program, students enroll in two to three Summer Session courses and earn credit toward their UW-Madison degree. SCE gives students the chance, during the less hectic summer months, to make the many academic and non-academic adjustments their peers must contend with during the busy fall semester. Contact Miguel Rosales, the SCE Coordinator at 262-6463 or 262-2583.
