II.3 POSITION CONTROL

Trust Funds: The University's supply of Fund 161 FTE positions is limited. No positions beyond those included in the annual printed budget can be payrolled on Fund 161 without getting prior approval. Please send requests to the Assoc Dean for Budget and Finance in Room 201 South Hall. The requests should include: the account number and a brief description of the purpose of the account; the position title, FTE and full-time rate; and a brief statement of the duties that will be assigned to the position.

Program Revenue: In 1995-97, the budget bill removed position control from positions funded on Fund 128.  Despite this removal, each quarter the University must still report to the Department of Administration and the Legislature on any increase or decrease to the level of authorized FTE positions. The only Fund 128 FTE positions that can be filled without prior approval are positions shown in your printed budget. If you need additional Fund 128 positions, send a request to the Associate Dean for Budget and Finance in Room 201 South Hall. Include the account number, position title, FTE, full-time rate, and brief position description. You should try to anticipate your FTE position needs and allow at least 4 weeks for the approval process to be completed.
