Annual updates usually include:

• L&S Calendar (usually available in .pdf format for the full year, and month-by-month) Updates are in progress; the new calendar will be posted by the date of the L&S Chairs, Directors, and Program Administrators' meeting.) POSTED 9/12/08
• L&S Snapshot (still to be updated with official data from 2006-2007; should be available in September 2008)
• Organizational Chart for L&S Administration (updated August 2008 to reflect personnel changes and changes to L&S Administrative organizational units)
• Paper and Request Flowchart , also known as the "what goes where and whom do I call about it?" reference for all L&S departments and programs (updated August 2008)
• MANY small updates not listed below have also been made.

Other Revisions:

Most revisions made for the 2008-2009 edition of the Handbook were minor, since we anticipate a major overhaul to take place next year. A few of the more substantial changes, made to clarify policy, are listed below.

• Chapter I.11, L&S Committees, has been revised to highlight the role of governance in the college.
• Discussion of restrictions on GPR-funded out-of-state travel were added to Chapter III.5, "Travel"
• A short section on obtaining Retirement Certificates was added to Chapter III.7, "Retired Faculty and Staff; Faculty Who Have Resigned From UW-Madison"
• A section of Chapter III.9, regarding Student Hourly employees, has been clarified.
• A new section, Chapter III.13, "Criminal Background Checks" has been added; this contains flowcharts to guide hiring departments through the process.
• A description of how to request honorific professorial titles has been added to Chapter III.5.1.
• New sample letters are provided to suggest language to be used when seeking to change instructional academic staff appoinment from fixed-term-terminal to fixed term renewable
• Revisions to Chapter IV.13, "Sick Leave Policy" reflect the new leave reporting requirements.
• L&S Student Academic Affairs Liaisons by Major and L&S Student Academic Affairs Deans' Assignments have been updated and appear in the SAA webspace, at http://www.lssaa.wisc.edu/intranet/resources/
