Pushpin bullet Is the chance of getting my first choice lot reduced if I also make 2nd, 3rd and 4th lot choices when applying for a 2004-05 permit,?

No.  Parking assignments are made via a computer program.  Your chance of getting the first choice lot does not change in any manner.  Making four lot choices only increases your chances of getting an acceptable lot assignment for 2004-05.  If you make only one lot choice and are not successful, you will have no parking to start the 2004-05 parking year.  You are automatically put on the waiting list for that lot and have a chance at getting an assignment at a later date.

Pushpin bullet How long does it take to get a spot if I am on a waiting list?

There is no way of determining how long it takes to get a parking spot from a waiting list.  The length of time depends on the parking lot in question, your parking priority number and the time of year. Those who do not have a parking space will have a higher waiting list priority than those who currently have a parking space.  December and May (semester breaks) tend to see more assignments from the waiting lists, although Parking reviews lot availability once every two weeks and overbooks lots to the maximum extent possible.

Pushpin bullet Will I be charged the full amount if I get an assignment from the waiting list?

If your assignment begins after September 1, the cost will be prorated based on the portion of the parking year that remains.

Pushpin bullet May I apply for parking if I do not have an active faculty or staff appointment?

All undergraduate students and graduate students without a payrolled appointment must apply directly through Transportation Services and are typically limited to lot 60.  Faculty or staff must have an active appointment (new employee appts must have cleared IADS) to apply for parking.  Faculty and staff with zero-dollar honorary appointments may apply for parking.

Pushpin bullet How do I change my preferred address, license plate or email information?

Address and email:

On your personal parking page, under the applications tab click “update personal info.” Office address info can only be updated via you department payroll coordinator.

License plate info:

On your personal parking page, under the vehicles tab click “update,” fill in any new license plate information and delete any old license plate information.

Pushpin bullet Can I get a second hangtag?

Unless you are carpooling, you are allowed only one hangtag.  If you only have one car, you may turn in the hangtag in exchange for a single window sticker.  You may also obtain a plastic sleeve for the hangtag from Transportation Services if you would prefer it not to hang from your rear view mirror.  Hangtags will be approximately 2 inches shorter in 2004-05.

Pushpin bullet What do I do if my parking password doesn’t work?

If you are using the same logon id and password from 2003-04, please contact Chris Bruhn (bruhn@ls.admin.wisc.edu) or Leah Osterhaus (osterhaus@ls.admin.wisc.edu) to obtain a new password.

If you are using you MyUW net id and you get locked out of the system, the system will be reset and your password will not change.

Pushpin bullet Where are the Transportation Services Offices?

The Transportation Services Offices are located at:

124 WARF Office Building, 610 Walnut Street, 263-6666

Transportation Services Info Place at the Memorial Union on Park Street

Pushpin bullet What is the difference between the L&S Parking Coordinator and Transportation Services?

The L&S parking coordinator administers issues related to individual parking applications and  priority number assignment for faculty and staff of L&S only.  Transportation Services establishes campus parking policies, rates, enforcement/citations, special event and visitor parking, department vehicles and lot construction issues, among others.

If you are uncertain whom to contact first with a parking question, it is best to start with your department parking coordinator.  You are also then welcome to contact Chris Bruhn or Leah Osterhaus in L&S Administration as needed.

Pushpin bullet What should I do if I am going on sabbatical?

Please contact your department parking coordinator as soon as the sabbatical has been approved by campus.  Parking assignments may be placed on hold status for a minimum of three months and a maximum of nine months.
