*Limitation on Graduate Assistant Appointments. Teaching, program/project assistant and research assistant appointments offer students who are actively pursuing advanced degrees the opportunity to obtain valuable academic experience. These titles are not intended to be used as substitutes for other employment titles (i.e., lecturer).

A Request for Exception to Maximum Levels of Graduate Assistantship Appointments form is only needed when requesting appointments that exceed the above levels.  Your Dean may require School/College review of some of these categories.  They will notify you separately of any additional school/college requirements.

*** Use 1% inflator over previous year for out years in proposal budgets.  Rates are usually set mid-spring for 7/1 of the same year.

 

Tuition Remission

Effective January 10, 2006, the tuition remission surcharge has been set at $4,000 per Academic Year Semester for each Program/Project Assistant (PA) and Research Assistant (RA) eligible for tuition remission. This fixed charge replaces the previous rate of 25% of stipends.
