Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (DDRIG) Proposals to the National Science Foundation (NSF)
The process for submitting a proposal for a Doctoral Dissertation (Research) Improvement Grant - DDIG or DDRIG - has three main components:
- Writing the proposal.
- Creating and completing a campus-only transmittal record in the UW WISPER system.
- Uploading and submitting the proposal in the NSF Fastlane submission system.

Involvement by the Dissertator's faculty advisor is mandatory.
Steps should be taken to plan for the faculty advisor to be available to provide current and pending research support information, biographical (vita) information, and electronic approvals in both the WISPER and Fastlane systems close to the time of submission.
Many offices play a part in submitting a proposal. Plan accordingly to give those offices as much notice as possible.
