STAR Mission and Concept

The mission of the Systems for Transdisciplinary Advancement of Research (STAR) is to intentionally enlarge and systematically support an engaged, transdisciplinary research community of UW faculty and staff through: 

  1. Expansion of research networks across and beyond the university,
  2. Development of research leadership and management skills,
  3. Enhancement of transdisciplinary collaboration skills,
  4. Meaningful connections of UW-Madison researchers to business professionals, and
  5. Increased ease of research talent recruitment and retention at UW‐Madison.

STAR is an organizational development program designed to support the research enterprise of UW-Madison. A number of professional development programs target specific aspects of growth for faculty, staff, and business professionals. STAR features opportunities to form ongoing relationships and working partnerships with Wisconsin business professionals.

STAR is funded by the College of Letters & Science, the College of Engineering, the Graduate School and the Division of International Studies.
